What Was She Thinking?!

I just saw this over on The YBF and just had to share. Victoria Rowell, best known for her roles as Dr. Amanda Bentley on Diagnosis Murder and Drucilla Winters on the soap The Young and the Restless, decided to wear this to yesterday's Daytime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. I'm all for promoting African design because quite frankly it's about time our designs started gaining recognition worldwide. However, the famed Obama cloth that already seemed to divide opinion in Ghana is not for the red carpet. Agree? Disagree?

8 opinionated people have something to say:

I'm totally digging this. Why? Because she dared to be different, knowing very well her chances of being ripped were high. I also like that she did not make an elaborate dress out of it.

I agree the design of the dress itself is fine and she is an undeniably beautiful woman. I just think the cloth itself is borderline tacky anyway and I don't know how anybody can feel correct with Mr. Obama plastered across their midsection on a red carpet!

Cloth is hideous and I think 'statement' outfits of this sort are horrible particularly on the red carpet. But, yeah, I guess the design made the best of a bad situ

Could have chosen a nicer african cloth for sure, but hey, she seems to love it. About time they started buying from us.

I would have worn the dress shopping but I think its actually cool that she wore it on the red carpet. I am decoding it to mean that she is not living by "red carpet rules". She is also being very political and showing support of Obama at a time of difficulty re health care, etc

@ Nana - Ok, I understand that Obama particularly needs support at the moment, don't get me wrong. But I just find it distasteful/annoying that this is what our cloths are being used for-a statement. Why can a beautiful cloth not baring the face of Obama be worn on the red carpet just because it's beautiful?

Obama would not have approve this dress - not even Michelle Obama would wear it. This actress thinks the world is still excited over Obama - we are awake!

She looked horrible.

I have to say that aside from the 'Obama face' design, I really don't like the cloth. However, I congratulate her in daring to make a political statement by wearing a dress with his face on it.
